Aso oke is a textile hand woven by men on the double-heddle narrow loom. The most distinctive feature of much Aso-Oke is a form of openwork in which holes are created by using extra weft threads to tie together groups of warps.
These textiles are worn on special occasions including chieftaincy, religious festivals and naming ceremonies.
Women wear these as wraparound skirts (“Iro”), head ties (“gele”), or around the waist ('iborun').
Men suites consist of gowns (“Agbada”) and trousers ('sokoto')
